(Shit, I don't know why I logged out to say this..)

So, I have a feeling that a majority of users on this site are female, and I've been reading a bunch of female empowering articles, art, etc..

I've also been thinking why it's more common for females to like yaoi, rather than guys. I think that it's just how some men act and how the media likes to portray gender roles and such, there's also the fact that I think that most, if not all, have met a guy/girl who has been sexist, thinking that it's okay.
I guess that people just see these men usually portrayed to be these sexist idiots who only live off of protein, go to the gym all the time, and are only good for being strong or crap like that, same happens to women a lot. But just with different stereotypes, which are still being used to this day by people who need a therapist.
But I have a feeling that women are more likely to like yaoi is because females are so used to seeing males as these dominate types towards women, that it's a load of when they see a male being dominated (well, they may think about it subconsciously, but what do I know, I'm a male just I'm just trying to see this through a women's POV)

Sorry if I accidentally offend someone by saying this, it's just been something that I've been thinking of for a while and I wanted to get this off my chest.

I m a female and I like yaoi mostly because there are more males in it.

honestly, 90% of the reason is because some males are straight and homophobic. it's disgusting for homophobes to see men get it on. i understand your point, but personally, yaoi, in the simplest sense, is sexy. second, actual good yaoi w great writing makes you forget it's actually yaoi. to add, there's something so beautiful about how two guys realize their "forbidden love" and fight for it.

No worries I'm female and I second your view! I've been thinking the same too. Do other females feel empowered (lol)?

I guess I feel the guys I associate with irl are mostly (emphasis on "mostly") insensitive and narrow minded people, only ever wanting to be right. It's really rare to meet a guy with a second opinion thus the general perception I have is that guys are arrogant and need to be knocked off their high horses.

Fictional gays whets my appetite for endearing, submissive males (sadist side showing) since there's so much avail and all in my control to read. Unfortunately, I must admit I do prefer a cute fictional gay man over a stuck up prick anytime. +the fujioshi in me kicks in

Yes you do sound like a romantic. While you say that our souls have no gender that '-shouldn't- play a critical part' sounds more like wishful thinking. I tend to believe more in our instincts so.. I would say it more like 'we ought to be free to be sexually attracted to a person regardless of its gender BUT if its of legal age.
I hope I didn t come across as sexist but really... I just really like it because of all the d**ks and hunks with muscles or no muscles.

Actually yaoi was created to satisfy female's BL fantasy and milking money from hardcore fujoshi. When it became popular and gain public exposure, the number of male readers also has slowly increasing.

I like reading yaoi mostly cause im just dead shit tired of all the cringey, annoying hetero story couples out there. So, my mind leaned towards gay shit aka "yaoi", its just instincts ya know ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ plus ever since i was a child i always found gay couples, or even hints/vibes of it, more "interesting". I always found myself looking at the "other side" of the shipping game rather than the main hetero couples in movies so its about time I acknowledged it :/ hehe

Me too. It s really hard to find some cute straight couple manga with interesting story. Most of them go from stupidly complicated to stupidly dumb.
Truthfully for me it was mind opening. I think I became more accustomed and accepting of same sex relationships because of them. The sometimes

Toxic masculinity is killing both men and women to the point it's sickening. It claims that a guy has to want to fuck and dominate someone otherwise he's gay and/or weak. Being feminine isn't wrong. A guy doesn't have to 'want it' all the time. If a guy is romantic and sweet, he's a wuss according to toxic masculinity. And if he cries!??!?!??!??!? OH MY GOD!!!??? Homophobia is strong and they are so scared of displaying their emotions towards other guys. No homo bruh game. They created this world and they're destroying themselves. You have girls who go to the bathroom together and girls who hug and love and support each other. But guys aren't allowed to do that because it's what? Lame? Weak? Will harm their ego???
Isn't that just sick? There are actually plenty of guys who read yaoi, you just don't know the exact amount of them and they probably won't tell. Yaoi is just fiction with a better storyline tbh. Shoujo is pushing this image of a stupid girl who keeps running after a guy and it's just awful. It's degrading and plain ridiculous.
We don't read yaoi because we like to see a guy being dominated. We all have our own personal reasons for reading. Me personally, I read it for the art, the good plotline and intense emotions. Not all yaoi mangas are cliché and boring.

Actually I feel like even Yaoi has gender roles forced on it. Well the heterosexual roles Like the uke and seme roles, it's literally equals to female and male roles.
