From what I remember, he keeps Luce in the north palace like a prisoner in luxury. His home town friend was just going to break in but the mutual friend helps him determine a plan. They send Luce a message to go to this basement room in the north palace at a certain time cuz there will be a secret passage that can open. He tells the guards that he’s hot and wants to sleep in the basement room. As his friend opens the secret door. The prince catches them and commands the guards to kill the friend. Luce has a sword and fights and wounds the prince. And the prince is shookth cuz he never thought Luce would actually hurt him. They go through the secret door and lock it and escape. The prince tries to catch him but he gets away. He keeps the runaway event quiet cuz he does not want Luce to be a wanted man that will get executed. He wants to catch him and bring him back so he can’t use all the military force to find him. Anyways the childhood friend was a brothel owner and had some sort of enemy. And the enemy sent assassins to kill him and anyone who gets in their way. The assassins code is something like they never miss a target and no one who has seen their face can live and Luce has seen their face running away. The prince is looking for him personally and found out that the assassins are looking for him. When Luce is surrounded by assassins, the prince saves him and they run away to a cabin. They confess their feelings and were both honest. Even though Luce is injured they have sex like it might be their last day on earth. I surprisingly don’t remember exactly what happens next. I know they get rid of the assassins and live together as a couple but I can’t remember specifics.
Oh I do know that the prince breaks off his engagement with Selina because Luce does not want him to get married. The prince exposes that Selina was the one who kidnapped his ‘Previous fiancé and friend’ that were originally accused of running away together. It was all planned with the prince but it doesn’t make Selina any less culpable.

Yo, this makes me mad. I mean, yeah, Selina was the one who kidnapped them, but this would not have happened if the prince hadn’t given the green light. Selina definitely is not a good character, but she’s no worse than the prince. Unless something else happens later that convinces me otherwise, I hope no punishment will come upon her.
They were both political climbers. Thinking politics is like a chess game and Selina got out maneuvered. She threatened to expose the prince but he was like then I’ll expose your brother for contributing to a traitors scheme to assassin me which will sentence your whole family to death. Do you want to live or die? She accepts defeat. I don’t think Selina is mentioned again.
Also they portray the prince more like a psychopath in the novel. He doesn’t feel things and his world is gray with the exception of Luce. So what he does to Selina is pretty tame. He doesn’t care about her or anyone else for that matter.
