as someone who's into chasing arcs too, i'd say it's really not, but if you consider that mc has been into ml, like REALLY into ML since their HS days, then it somehow makes sense

there's grape scenes here, so much that MC even developed some type of ptsd that when ml is near him, he's scared that he'll grape him again. It's painted as that serious BUT in the end, mc still folded faster than a gay's wrist lol. Yeah the ml had regrets and tried to chase mc but it was lacking (he even graped mc WHILE he was chasing him literally and figuratively), their characters barely developed, the author just pulled a timeskip for them to reunite again and I kid u not, the very day that they met again was also the same day they got back together and did the fwopping, as if mc's ptsd was all just the reader's imagination.
I think author just wanted it to end so they're like "here you go, a reconciliation scene, the end, now let's get to the side stories and finish my contract with this work"
