writing this after months of reading it so i might get some specifics wrong but this was so dark but and so heavy. im so glad i read it but now i have no one to talk to abt it..i read this all in one night and it's so much to process. definitely not for the faint of heart because it can get graphic at times. (fyi the active abuse towards colin isn't explicitly shown but the before and after are)

i love how the abuser and this topic was portrayed. it evoked all the emotions that people should have towards pedophilia, incest, rape, grooming, and abuse. the jumpscares with the baby's corpse and reveal of what the abuser looked like were so well made and definitely ingrained the horror of it all and how this still exists in our world today. the story telling and art really captured the atrocity of the abuser's actions and how far detatched he was to being human and having any sort of sane thought. i was reminded of this when i read about amo's backstory in gachiakuta.

i love how it shows how different forms of abuse (violent & sexual, neglectful & emotionally distant) manifests in children psychologically. it affects their train of thought, their actions, and their values. i really like mary's arc; she and colin really do complete each other.

story-wise, plot twist was so unexpected. riko's character was so much deeper than i thought . it was all a persona lmao i like her better after the reveal even though i did feel sorry for her bc she constantly got pushed around. but not each character is 100% virtuous they're all influenced by their enviornments and how they affect each other. it's all intertwined i love that abt this story.

rant: my one gripe abt is that riko is kinda just..there after everything gets resolved. like she's just third wheeling after all she's done and gone through (her possessive mindset def wasn't healthy) but like. man she just wanted to save her first and only friend in the only way she knew how as a toddler/young child. she really didn't have many options and was under a bunch of stress (mental stress and guilt bc of keeping a promise or trying to get help is a huge part of the story.)
icl i feel bad her love back then was unrequited. and years later after wanting to reconnect bc of the domino effect of her actions she didn't know of nor control and her friend wants to kill and bury her for that with her replacement. i rly want her to have her own happy ending too..

overall amazing story and message. i just have a gripe urgg use ur judgement when taking recs from tiktok comments
