Honestly, there’s a lot of critiques I have for this manhwa (abrupt pacing, lack-there-of character backstory, telling over showing (e.g. moments meant to highlight character chemistry ending up reading as just devices to explicate the world-building) And it’s sad because this author already has so many works under their belt, you’d think there’d eventually be one that I have no qualms with and can rate a 5/5 star…

If this is a case where “you have to include sex within the first few chapters, or else you’re not allowed to draw sex in your comic at all” … LOWK… I would make the argument of drawing a supporting character getting it on (with another supporting character, perhaps) instead. It’s not the main couple, but depending how you write the following, it wouldn’t be completely irrelevant either, right ? But ig makes you wonder that could be the reason why so many pornhwas are porn from the get-go.
no shade, day, but have you read any other BWAT stories? this isn't the first time folks were side eyeing the character dynamic (I'm looking at you miscreants and mayhem). based on my knowledge of BWAT, these characters will most likely be obsessed with each other by the end of the series, they'll communicate their love, and probably bang A LOT.
I’ve read five (Mania, Yellow Dragon, Blood Link, Smyrna & Capri, Fouls Start). Those are the only ones that interested me, and my opinion’s based on what I’ve read. Those stories had decently sexy character dynamics, and just so far, this story is proving to not to, at least for my taste.
I see the author’s typical romance formula that you’re spelling out for me, I’m not really sure why you’re telling me it though.
bc you would’ve answered your own response if you knew BWAT’s formula that’s why i said that. we are only 17 chapters in and they usually have 60+. let it cook a lil.
Oh for sure, for sure, it’s early. I just can’t hold back my qualms when I have them… Also I think this is the first time I know I’ve been blocked by another mggo user. Just so you know, I wasn’t disagreeing or thinking there was anything wrong with what you said lol.
So far Tei just sees Shuraka as a child, and that seems to be the only way he can accept him. Yeah, there’s some nuanced feelings Tei has for him (where did said feelings sprout from ? Who knows. Don’t get me started on how lacking their character chemistry is…) but the clear reason why Tei is doing sexual things with Shuraka, is because he views him as this kid who needs help. I don’t understand why the author doesn’t give plot space to let Tei get comfortable and adjusted to around the fact that Shuraka is an adult, BEFORE letting this sex plot happen. That’s how it should be for a story with this kind of dynamic, yet it seems the author just wants to get to the sex part already… But anyways, I hope Tei and Shuraka get some proper development soon, because I’m not into the whole “I’m an adult lending my body to this adolescent, helpless teen” type of trope. Like not even for the reasons it’s problematic— but because it’s so unsexy My dick is retracting into hibernation as we speak.
