I am irked...Sorry its a rant as a comment

I am irked by the fact that Arke is used mainly as a plot device to make Iris look better. It reminds me of those Isekai stories where a villainess is suddenly loved by her family because its not her, its actually someone else in her body.

So far we haven't seen anything from her point of view or how she has progressed for the first 40 chapters (and although I haven't read the rest I dont think it will change). So we know nothing of her except to know how different and more capable Iris is compared to Arke, and I am so tired of this. It would have been better to show how she is good at her own things, that Iris is not, or lacks to reach. Until now we only know she is good with books "like her father" but in what area does she excell in that.

Most of the people that Iris meet are along the lines of; I should have realized that you where not her because obviously she is annoying, or she is the most evil shit so you are obviously not her, I am sorry for treating you like I would treat her (valid of she personally did something to you but in the story it said a lot of shit was invented by the newspapers, so why...).

The dad and her grandfather are glad to have her but it looks like they are replacing her, even if they say no, they are glad to have things in common with a stranger (because they are, even if they are family) more than with the girl they raised wrong (it seems that in the manga they alude to her being like that because of her surroundings).

I get it but it also sounds like she was a decent if not good person but then she was screwed over and she had a mental breakdown.

You are right, it was mentioned that as a little girl she was nice and sweet. Which makes me confused because she spiraled through years of depression and anger until she ran away. But the point about raising that I wanted to make (which I am seeing a pattern with not explaining well these last few days, so I should sleep more) is that everyone saw the changes but instead of doing it like "Jesus there is something wrong with my family member because they are acting strange", they compared her to a sister no one knows (not really) and everyone acts as of she was a fucking monster of a human being for having a break down. Instead of the father and grandfather being aware of things (they have power) they played this ignorance game and then got surprised.

P.S. I dont know if I make sense anymore, I think I over explained somethings but if I dont answer back right now I may never do.

It sounded like in the story there was too many misunderstandings between them. Don’t get me wrong, I really want a few more arcs with Arke in them, but they mentioned how her father and grandfather would try to ask the situation but Arke would break down and lash out more because she was still hurt by things, so they’d end up getting nowhere and just believe what they heard from others. It’s a fundamental flaw in how they approached each other as family members. If they approached her with more patience and quietness then they’d probably have gotten a lot farther, but her father and grandfather are pretty intense people where her mother is a lot more lax. She also didn’t have anything to go off of but the memories she had of her and newspapers that she wasn’t going to believe anyways considering her own past. I think the arc they’re starting rn is really nice since Iris’ mindset towards Arke is mostly familial love and the rest is empathy. She doesn’t pity her or think she’s in the wrong at all, I hope it’ll be a long one. Sadly the artist takes on a lot of good projects that end up discontinued for a comic adaptation way down the line, so here’s hoping this one will last
