Just curious

Just who exactly is Osen Iyad, what is his role in the story? I've read spoilers on how the novel ended but he's never mentioned. I'm so curious as to where he ended up honestly. Also why is he so focused on antagonizing Na-in. Why is Sha Amon allowing him to mess with his memories too. >:/

Osen Lyad’s role in the story is just being a nuisance lol. There was a plague going on in the cities, so Osen Lyad got permission from Amon to kill them all by putting them in a big ass hole and burning them alive. Na-in found out and wanted to stop that because he doesn’t like it when people die (I lowkey kind of forgot why, but in the novel it goes more into detail about why he didn’t want all those humans to die). So he found a way to cure all of the sick people with Gwen, and that pissed Osen Lyad off so bad.

Another thing about Osen Lyad is that he’s probably over 100+ years old because he drinks blood (I forgot whose blood he drinks, but I’m guessing it’s from children, Amon, or just young people), and that probably started around the time he first served Amon. The reason why Amon allowed him to be by his side is because he thought that since Osen Lyad is human, he could help Na-in whenever Na-in is struggling with depression, since Amon doesn’t understand human emotions because he’s a dragon.

Osen Lyad even introduced the idea to use that incense on Na-in that makes Na-in forget his memories whenever things are becoming tragic, so that Na-in doesn’t die from being too depressed. The ending for Osen Lyad is so nasty and gross because he literally sliced Na-in’s wrist to drink his blood so that he wouldn’t die from old age (something like that, i’m not too sure because everything was so messy during that period of time in the novel). After he drinks Na-in’s blood with a couple of priests, they go outside to talk to Amon and literally melt away. It has something to do with swallowing too much of the beast blood or magic shit.

Basically, Osen is so focused on Na-in because he just couldn’t wait to drink his blood. In conclusion , Osen Lyad is just a power starving guy that wants to live for a super long to and also be super annoying. He also dies mid-way in the novel so that’s why he isn’t mentioned in the ending :p

I see, thank you so much!
It's so annoying seeing him around the Shas that it's refreshing to hear how he ended up
