I read this a long time ago, and from what I remember, they don't end up together. I think they both go their separate ways and grow from having met each other.
They're kind of like two strangers that happened to meet at the lowest point of their lives. The female MC having just injured her leg, which made her unable to run anymore (which was her hobby). And the male MC, feeling like he wasn't doing much with his life cuz he wanted to be a writer, but felt he was too old to start doing that now.
So yeah, both MC's are in a situation where they have to give up on their dreams. But because they met each other, they ended up finding their ways back to their dreams again.

Yes he did, he did actually fell in love with her. But he decided not to pursue that love because it's wrong in so many levels. With his love he decided to support her unconditionally and I think that's perfect (=・ω・=)
