He isn't actually a normal beta. He's something rare called diamond dust omega. As long as he happens to meet and continuously copulate with a ghost alpha (AKA Mr Liu) he will complete his transition from a diamond dust omega to a full fledged omega. He was never a normal beta from the start cause a normal beta is not supposed to smell or emit pheromones but he is able to smell Mr Liu's pheromones and Mr Liu is able to smell his pheromones as well.
