there’s a fair amount of angst after they reunite and i think nathan offers a sexual relationship on the basis of helping alex with his pheromone disorder (?). alex tries to explain the past several times but nathan keeps shutting it down. then during a high school reunion jessica and several other classmates reveal the truth to nathan (that alex broke up with him to prevent the spread of nathan’s “nudes”, which was actually from some random porno) and he was about to apologize to alex after all these years, until he found out that alex got severely injured during a case. then after alex recovers they make up and pursue a genuine relationship. the side stories show their domestic life and a a lot of spicy scenes lmao, but also a bit of angst because as mentioned, alex is very traumatized. nathan tries his best to be understanding however

i’m reading the novel and the way alex is written is so sad even after things get better his anxiety and trauma is still strong … even the part where he cried because he thought nathan was angry with him because nathan got too excited n pulled his hair during sex made me cry lmao
