Love that she's getting education and a girl best friend besides what seems to be the love of her life.
It just adds to her character- I was afraid she'd be made a dependent pregnant waif right away, but alas she's able to do what she likes, learning and unfolding her self from the mold she was pressed into by her circumstances. That actually pretty awesome. ML started very weak (if I remember correctly) but showed at least regret, then support, patience and loyalty - not to shabby in his evolution at all :)
