Baby finger is obvious, it's cause it's little
If your fingers were a family it would be the baby
Tallest is daddy finger next is mommy finger then older sibling and baby finger, the thumb is the dog

Which one is mommy finger? The ring finger or index finger? Personally i think it's the ring finger.

I learnt it differently. Dad is middle, mum is index, older sibling is ring, baby is pinkie and grandparent(grandma or grandpa can be used) is the thumb.

Depends on the person, it'll be whichever one is taller than the other
For me it's ring but I've seen some people where it would be pointer

Middle tends to always be tallest but some people have odd length fingers
Not all grandparents are sort plus mine sucked so I tend to forget they existed and when I bent my finger in it made be think of a dog

I meant this is the way they teach it in schools where I live. It’s not about tallest. It’s that the middle is the pillar of the family. Mum is on dad’s left because the eldest son is dad’s “right hand man” and then naturally you have the most dependents on the ends (grandparent and baby). It’s based on family hierarchy but also how they sat at a table. Dad at the head of the table and his wife on his left and his eldest on his right.
