Others need to understand that this is very real. I mean in a way that you don't get that sense of a happy ending or completion from a "perfect story" because these characters aren't perfect or "normal." They are extremely traumatized individuals who also have mental health issues alongside that. There is no "getting over it" there is only understanding their triggers and working though it. There is no "fixing" anything, just understanding and perseverance. This isn't my usual read and I actually feel very content with this ending.
