I'm starting to think it's because it's easier to draw uniforms and high school is practically like close proximity especially if they have opposing personalities they'd have to have met somehow if they're around the same age

im seeing this in a…japanese people have a weird fetish for high school students way unfortunately i hope you’re right though, but college is also..a close proximity thing, mostly if it’s a small town

You might not know but high schoolers are also the demographic they're selling bl to. Smut content is not really considered an r18. Only hentai doujins are considered r18 and has its own separate section in bookstore where minors can't access it.

Yeah this fs…Idk tho I'm in college rn and me and some of my close friends havent crossed paths once (different majors). I am just putting this out here bcs these two don't seem like they'd end up in the same career so I doubt they wouldn't met

Not just bl, straight manga also has a lot of high school stories. Kamisama hajimemashita, fragrant flower blooms with dignity, that popular Ha something anime with the long haired pierced boy who got rid of said hot qualities for shorter hair to match his meek personality Haji? Uh... nevermind. That deaf girl x adventurous hiking boy- oh wait thats college (I dont read straight, only watch )

It’s more of the appeal of high school. It represents youth and inexperience while still adapting to the adult world. It is relatable and idealistic. It’s always been popular because a lot of people are able to quickly and easily understand AND relate to the setting with very little explanation. To emphasize, because not everyone goes to college and many more have been to high school, it’s easier to have the audience relate to the manga (especially higher schoolers specifically)
