he literally puts a distance between himself and maxi cause he doesn’t want to get hurt again. miscommunication continues because of both parties. and the thing where they have sex for a week is because maxi provokes riftan by attending a party with another man cause she wants riftan’s jealousy and during that week riftan literally has to force maxi to eat cause she just wants to continue having sex too…

So, here's the basic breakdown of the scene itself (not that it'll matter because you're views are set in stone):
•Maxi is physically and emotionally distressed (she cries and tells him repeatedly to stop until she passes out).
•Riftan initiates sex despite her resistance and fear (he literally strong-arms her away and locks her in a room with him).
•The dynamic again involves power imbalance, coercion, and her lack of genuine consent.
Miscommunication does *not* continue on "both parties" because, as you conveniently left out, since Maxi's return, all she did was attempt to communicate with Riftan. It was RIFTAN who stonewalls Maxi and emotionally manipulates her. This is why she did what she did at the banquet, because, like every other time they get into a fight, Riftan gave her no other choice. And like the rotten man he is, he choice sex over genuine communication.
You blaming Maxi for "wanting more sex" too is unfair as you also conveniently ignore every moment during the ordeal that she repeatedly tells Riftan to stop. OMFG, even after they finish, Maxi even tells Riftan:
"Th-This... w-wasn't what I wanted."
"What I want... is for us to go back to the way we used to be."
The scene expresses that Maxi was angry with Riftan because she'd spent all her time opening up to him, meanwhile, with her, despite how long they were separated—how long they've been married—he continued to hold her at arm's length. So no, she *didn't* want to be fucked for a whole week, she was just forced to accept and adapt to what was happening to her because of the disgustingly antiquated standards of that era. Yet again, Riftan assaults Maxi like during their wedding night, but of course less perceptive readers won't say this in order to preserve Riftan's image and make the scene more digestible. Believe what you want, I'm not arguing anymore.

The funny thing is that Riftan isn't even handsome. He's average *at best,* but his sex appeal is greatly exaggerated, I say—both by the characters in canon as well as by fans of the series. Not to mention, his personality makes him seem uglier, in my opinion. He looks like a fucking cave hobo who was lucky enough to find a shaving blade.
And maybe you're just completely desensitized from all the smut and porn you've consumed if you can't notice just how often Maxi and Riftan fuck rather than developing their relationship in a healthy way, like through communicating.
Definitely only find maxi and other characters that actually does something in the story riftan just wants sex or will be getting angry because he definitely has fragile ego
