Goodness, the author really DID take the story all the way up to them being old folks. I'm grateful that it didn't end with a memorial service. It was very cute seeing them older and still very much in love with each other-- even if they do take jabs now and again, which is typical of couples that have been together so long.
I can't help but feel bad for anyone that would attempt to pursue the daughter. Feels pretty obvs that she's Aro/Ase and perfectly content with her own company. Even if that guy DID manage to get into a relationship with her, I can't image it would last as he likely wouldn't get back (emotionally) what he'd put into it. I suspect she'll be perfectly happy continuing on her path but it would be rough for him.
