The first half of this story literally infuriated me to point of numbness. I spent 44 chapters literally screaming. First I am not a fan of these couples. The ML threatens, kidnaps, devalues, physically assaults, sexually assaults/molests , gaslights, and constantly uses his magic to take way the MC’s autonomy. The ML literally spends the first 40 chapters trying to convince the MC that he’s not real and doesn’t exist only to turn around later and said he knew that he existed the entire time and still treated him like absolute dog shit. Literally the same for the second couple. Then the ML‘s have the audacity to be confused as to why the MC‘s don’t wanna be involved with him or are scared of them. Like you literally have been abusing me why would I wanna be in a relationship with you? Especially for the main couple when the MC was really pouring out his whole heart and the ML just straight up, rejected him and then assaulted him immediately after. However, even during the ML‘s redemption R key still was constantly trying to undermine and take away the MC‘s autonomy when he was not doing what the ML wanted. Like he literally begged you not to take away his memories in the first half of the story and you went ahead it didn’t anyway because you didn’t like that he was investigating. And you can say it was for his protection all you want, but it was controlling, and it again violated his autonomy and his rights. Like by the time I got to the second half of the story it was almost funny watching the ML all distraught and confused as to why the MC was like talking to other people and asking them for help and I’m literally thinking to myself, you have literally been a menace to him this entire time and you say you want him but still barely listen to him and just tell him what he wants to hear so that he can ” obey you”.
I will say the plot plotted hard and it was a very good and interesting read. However, because there was so much involved in the plot of the story I think there wasn’t enough relationship development for me to justify either of the couples getting together.
Also, the main villain just fucked up his whole story. Like the girl he loved, was also in love with him and he betrayed her and he’s mad? Even though I straight up, hated his brother at the beginning of the story for what he put the see-through. I genuinely feel bad for the brother once I kind of found out that his brother was doing magic on him to the point where he was extremely sick. And he talked it out with the MC and they forgave each other so we’re cool.
Lei Lin honestly deserved so much better, she really did. However, the whole orphanage experimentation thing that she said at the end was kind of wild. I literally thought to myself so the orphanage in the people that you so love you also used to experiment and prepared for them to become you and die for the greater good of the world.……………… like sis I was with you at the engagement party and I understand why you did what you did, but I’m real confused.
I have literally spent the past few days binge reading this and I’m still processing everything that has just transpired, but that’s all I gotta say for now.
Also, if somebody reads this long ass comment, can they answer? Is it true that this is the prequel to the promise? I absolutely love the promise. I am down bad for the story. So I really need confirmation if this story is related so I can reread this story with that in mind.
