It is very disgusting to me too, but just to make ourselves feel better we can say that the story is based on time when it was very common, even cheating on spouse and having many lovers beside the spouse was acceptable. Atleast adam was loyal after joel accepted him... I read an old time based manga where the ml/mc would cheat on each other while being married so it is better than that (〜￣△￣)〜

It's not an excuse but I think it's also 1 of Adam's protection from the royale family. Sleeping around will show people that he has no desire for the throne and it'll make him seem like a fool by the people. Ik this is just headcanon but he was most likely to be groomed when he was a kid. Beautiful young boy being forced to have sex with adults seems plausible considering the era this story took place
Also I think that's 1 of the reason Adam like Montague in the 1st place. Montague was a commoner with no power or anything to his name, but bcs of his knowledge and interesting advice even the king of Lorraine approved him as one of the council. From Adam's perspective, who's someone most likely born from infidelity that's been tossed aside since birth, Montague probably looks like a hero or idol to him even before Adam become his bodyguard
I read it and I understand their povs and why they are the way they are..But, I seriously couldn't stomach Adam sleeping around with everyone while confessing his love to Joel..Very hard to read about his sleeping around, his dad sleeping around and how he is very proud and easy going about it all..
