To make a long story short: Blonde Jina and brunette Jin-ah went to school together, but their friendship ended after Jina stole Jin-ah's boyfriend. Jina did it to prove that the guy was unreliable and easily flirts with other women, essentially showing Jin-ah that he wasn't worth her time. Jina did this because she had feelings for Jin-ah herself but was too afraid to admit it. The plan backfired, leading to a major misunderstanding. Instead of realizing her boyfriend was a womanizer, Jin-ah was offended by her friend's betrayal.

I believe, before these events, they had shared a kiss, though the details of that moment haven't been revealed yet and have only appeared in flashbacks.

After their fallout, they lost touch completely and only reunited years later as adults when they were forced to collaborate for work. Old feelings began to resurface. One night, after drinking, Jin-ah kissed Jina, who was still very much in love with her, and they ended up starting a sexual relationship. As their feelings deepened, both secretly wanted something more serious but were too afraid to take that step. Jina, in particular, would either avoid the topic entirely or only reach out to Jin-ah when she was drunk, just to arrange another hookup.

Jin-ah started to feel hurt and frustrated by this pattern. One night, when she went to pick Jina up from a bar, she found her hugging a male friend. Though he was clearly gay (you can notice a tattoo that gives it away), the scene triggered Jon-ah’s old fears. She became angry and demanded that Jina define what they were. This led to a heated argument between them.

In the following chapters, Jina should finally open up about her true feelings and the real motives behind what she did back in school. Meanwhile, Jin-ah will have to admit to herself, and to Jina, that she is now in love with her, and that this has never been just a casual affair.
