Ah okayy. I don’t think I can explain by order (like what happen first, second, and last) because it’s been too long, so I’ll just make it as list. If you have any follow up questions just askヾ(❀╹◡╹)ﾉ~

1. As you can get from latest chapter, the crown prince (ML/Yulkian’s father) was alive (he faked suicide) and have met FL (Maddie/Yan) in the past. At that time, FL was running away from that obsessive creep (I’m sorry I forgot his name). That’s why Maddie kept saying she loves his face because she have met the father and he treats her with kindness.
2. The mad scientist who kidnapping Maddie and other children are actually that creep’s father. I can’t remember whether he adopt him or he’s indeed the bio-father. But the mother, step or bio, is actually The Empress.
3. Following number 2, the scientist and the empress are basically crazy af. They met before she married to The Emperor. Both of them, again, was mad, they experimented on kids and fall in love with each other. This was why I kinda forgot whether the creep are their bio-kid or not. There’s two possibilities, a) creep is bio kid, born after they fall in love, and making the creep part of experiment too, or b) the very first kid they get experimented on was the creep, who actually kidnapped just like every other kid, but because they fall in love, they start playing family. Either way, they are his parents.
4. None, again, none of the things that happen to ML/Yulkian was from The Emperor :( for me, this is the saddest part. The one who kill ML’s mother and threaten the whole family was actually The Empress. The Emperor indeed didn’t have a good relationship with the late crown prince, but it’s not to the point that he want to kill him. To summarise, Emperor (who once just a prince) meet Empress and fall for her at the very first sight. Empress being crazy af, never love him, and yet accept his proposal. And she feels like she want more than being a princess so she killed ML’s parents. This is why the little boy (ML’s nephew) is still alive eventho the red-haired betray the ML. Because he reported this “secret” to Emperor (the innocent) not Empress (the real villain).

I think that’s basically all the important parts of the story. I might have miss one or two thing, so just ask me if there’s something else you want to know (≧∀≦)

Does emperor know what empress did? And is he actually trying to protect ml by marrying him to someone he choose or is it empress's doing too?

The Emperor really didn’t know. He simply falls for her at the very sight (I mean, Empress indeed a beauty). In the end, Empress killed Emperor, even then, she unapologetically said she could never understand why Emperor loves her so much :(

And yes, Emperor simply think FL and ML didn’t match? Lol. He thought FL can’t be trusted and ML deserve someone better.

The “selected” noble lady was chosen by Emperor. As I said before, Emperor might dislike the late Crown Prince but he never hate him enough to kill him. And (if I remembering it correctly) he genuinely thought ML as his family and any noble lady is better than the slum lady (FL)

Wow she looks really innocent too. The story actually interesting. It is a bit too much romance centered i think. If they actually went more plot centered it would have become more interesting.

Yeahhh.. that’s why it’s kinda shocking to me. I know Emperor seems not that malicious towards ML, but to think it was The Empress all along. Plus how she in love with the mad scientist who tortured FL…
