The difference isn’t whether it’s in a story it’s how the story treats it. Does the story treat it as normal sex or is the rape treated as rape?
This story frames the seme as a bad guy for being pushy and mean, but doesn’t treat the rape as rape. If the author was writing a story containing non consent because that’s what they’re into or are appealing to those fantasies, the story would treat the seme’s actions with more weight because that’s part of that kink, but instead this is treated as a pretty normal one night stand by the story. Fiction or roleplay are how people live out these fantasies ethically, but this story unfortunately like many others normalizes rape. (Normalizing rape btw is when rape isn’t treated as rape, not it being present in a story) The part where the seme says the uke must be wanting to fuck because he’s hard is so frustrating. Arousal is not consent, and many rapists have gotten away with it by using that argument in court. Even just a disclaimer from the author at the start saying that the chapter contains rape or coercive sex without changing the story’s contents means they’re at least calling it what it is. Frustratingly a lot of people don’t know what is and isn’t consent tho which is probably the case with the author here.
man ur almost right and then ur not.
The author does not have to treat rape as rape coz as u said they’re appealing to a kink. U don’t go into porn expecting them to treat rape like rape, so why expect anything else from a story with smut. Ur reading erotica, shocker ur not gonna find pure consentful sex.
To assume the author doesn’t know what is and isn’t consent is crazy, don’t make harmful accusations of a real person.
But yeah, there needs to be more trigger warnings placed before any sensitive topics, whether it’s rape, violence, or smth else.
Yeah sorry I didn’t word that part great. I meant that part about the author specifically about the dialogue where arousal implied consent and not the full encounter since that’s a pretty common belief for people, but I shouldn’t have said it like it was a definitive thing that the author thought. I’m not expecting groundbreaking storytelling in every yaoi, and with a trigger warning from the author themself even if the story itself doesn’t treat the rape as rape, the warning would still be calling the actions what they are. Since there weren’t any warnings and the story didn’t treat it what it was, this reads as the story not viewing these actions as rape or non consensual which was how I interpreted it. Maybe that’ll change in the future chapters, who knows. The artwork in this one is nice and I’m interested in where the story will go so I’ll keep checking in on this one.
Also erotica can be (and often is) incredibly artful and well written, and good stories elevate the eroticism in them. Does every story need to be well written and if you enjoy poorly written erotica you’re a bad person? Hell no that’s stupid, but critiques of a genre shouldn’t be brushed aside just because it’s a staple in the genre. That implies that erotica is something lesser than other artforms which it isn’t.
oh def erotica is impactful, and there can definitely be criticisms, but my original comment was talking of criticism around toxic yaoi being “this shouldn’t contain rape bcuz i don’t like rape in my erotica.” despite it being obvious it would have rape from simple context clues.
But yes for sure, there are criticisms to be made when they are not coming from a view point of “I hate this trope that was obviously gonna be in this, so this is shit”
I’d understand your concern if it was on a obvious rape slop yaoi but that isn’t the case apparently. when readers read new manhwa’s they aren’t just told that it has rape before reading..them complaining and expressing their opinions is totally normal. manhwa’s are for the public eye, so are the comments. people have FREEDOM OF SPEECH, they can can comment whatever they want. So if you feel pissed by it then that’s your problem.
The tittle of this manhwa is literally “My Trash partner” The first chapter of this story is the uke getting bullied by the ml. How u could possibly think this has anything but rape?
If rape is such a big ass concern go do ur due diligence to make sure ur stories dont have it instead of whining about how helpless u are. Resources exists for a reason. Search the manhwa name on mangaupdates and look at the tags, it’s a free resource that tags everything in a story including rape.
These stories are also not in the public eye by default, they are behind a paywall and age verification.

yall will read a story titled “uke gets raped 10 million times” and complain there’s rape
