lowkey most of the couples here should've been a slow burn. ESPECIALLY kj/cain, jy/aaron, and ben/azaniel. no shade to kj and cain's pacing, it's just that there are many points in the story where it would've been better if kj and cain have yet to tell each other they love each other. it also would be juicier if kj and cain kept fucking but they just don't talk about how their feelings are growing until they spill everything after like one of the first attacks on kj. now, for jinyoung and aaron, their past relationships aren't that explored enough for them to suddenly jump head start into a relationship with one another. when jy regained his memories, it would've been better if he had a bit of time to reconcile with his unrequited feelings for kj and process his budding connection with aaron. also, with his memories back, i did wonder why he wasn't as affected in terms of sleeping with a demon when he was raped and manipulated by one. no whiplash at all, for some reason. aaron's pov on moving on wasn't explored much at all, either. it seemed that he was still affected by the mention of won in the earlier chapters. their romance would've been more interesting if they worked on moving on and healing while also having tension. me thinking ben and azaniel should've been a slow burn is just a personal preference; i mean, an angel and a demon slowly falling for each other? shouldn't that warrant more than a few chapters of conflict? and their first time was a bit too sudden. HOWEVER, despite this, all these pairings are good dynamics and perfectly sweet. they're all freak4freak, and i respect that.

I agree ngl like I LOVE dear door but the depth of the couples just isnt enough. I really don’t blame the author though. It’s hard to have multiple pairings and have an interesting/action filled plotline while also having to incorporate BL elements (not counting smut). I honestly wouldn’t mind if this manhwa had 200 chapters or different versions but the author probably had their reasons for not wanting to drag the manhwa out, even if it would’ve made a huge impact on regarding the romance in dear door.

Yes, totally agree, there could have been more from relationship building for Jinyoung/Aaron and Ben/Azaniel, I understand that it's hard to explore each couple equally in one series, but it was definitely missing, and in some moments felt kinda flat, what is sad of course, but still love the dynamic of all 3 couples, even if there was definitely a room for more deep development!
