Some thoughts... post ch. 38

Like everyone else, I'm also assuming we'll be getting long, timeskip-centric stories. While the main story ending does feel somewhat rushed, there is unfortunately not much more that can be explored while they're still bbs in terms of the Alpha x Alpha dynamic, since it's clear that they get along just fine when it comes to day-to-day. So, I'm guessing it'll jump to either college or beyond and we'll get to see them exploring their dynamic... there, LOL. I do kind of love how easily they get along and how it doesn't feel forced. And how ML tries so hard to act tough but he's just a ultimately a sweet boy in love. They both are, haha. I would've loved to see a bit more high school fluff from them and maybe their awkward firsts like first proper date or how they navigated being in a secret relationship, lol.

I do hope that the whole family drama is further explored within the side stories too, ngl. I still feel a bit like Hyesung's trauma was dug up and used as a minor prop when there was so much potential there to dig deep and actually show nuance. That was, still, one of my biggest disappointments with an otherwise fine, fluff BL. If the author didn't intend to tackle that head on and actually do it justice, they should've just not gone into it at all.

Unfortunately, that whole mother drama thing just made so many people (rightfully, imo) get super defensive over Hyesung, who is already so deeply misunderstood by the general reader. This, as a consequence led to a wave of angry readers being very antagonizing over Byul... and his shit dad Dojin. (Fuck Dojin, even if I'm ultimately neutral on them being together. It's not that he's a shit person. It's just that the author lets him get away with such nonsense sometimes.) But I do worry that Byul was kind of caught in the cross-fire of that and the general reader's perspective on him soured in a way that can be forgiven with time, but not entirely forgotten. I don't think it's entirely the kid's fault that he wanted a relationship with his grandma. If anything, I feel like he was just a victim to Dojin's headassery (that man has such a flawed sense of egoism masked as savior complex, but that's a rant for another day). Like yeah, Byul should've had more caution, but this is a kid we're talking about. The fact that he was able to realize he was wrong and apologized matters. Though, it was such a strong misstep on the author's part. They basically threw their own mc under the bus by wrongfully pitting him against the ONE character every single reader is obviously going to be protective over.

Anyways, Byul is just a kid that made a mistake and Hyesung is a sweet parent that has grown so wonderfully and I love them and am ultimately at peace with how the story turned out. Also, I love Siwoo and I hope we get to see more of him as he opens up to Byul pls and ty. they're adorable.
