I think the reason is that you want it to be right or wrong, but you really can’t put this story in one square. It’s uncomfortable sure, but it’s not as if the seme is ancient and it’s not as if the uke is still in the womb.
I do like this story - it’s really simple with its resolution and quite cute when not delving too deeply into it. It’s off when u think their friendship spanned since he was a child, but I mean it’s not like the seme was actively pursing him and from context clues it’s clear the seme wasn’t around-around as much. Uke had clearly always been obsessed with the seme as well, and while the seme had to deny him when he’s a minor; the uke is now in college. There’s really nothing holding them back from being together.
And yes, yes those comments from the friend were odd - but tbh they’re suppose to be foreigners to them and the uke is persumed to be younger than he is from everyone BUT the seme. It’s also in his own insecurity that he thinks the seme views him as such.
Either way point is: stop fucking worrying bout it so much.
