Rambling

Whew so last night the drama adaptation landed on my fyp, I thought the story was familiar so I looked up the manga and I was sure I’ve read this before so I read it again.

Old shoujo mangas like this were always my fav (reco: yumemiru taiyou, sprout, bitou lollipop, six half, oboreru knife)

The plot was very predictable, but maybe that’s cus I’ve read it before haha. Tho I’m lowkey uncomfortable with the ending with Wao and Yumi, like for age gaps like that, it’s best if they give them a time skip, spend time away from each other and grow separately. When Wao said “I have to marry Yumi Chan I can’t let everything go to waste”, it was such an indication that it’s more attachment to their history than purely love it was pretty damn sad to see. I feel like he will grow to resent it, and honestly Yumi is a fucking joke. Why does she want to be a teacher for Wao so bad, the power imbalance is nasty. Being clingy and staying by your minor bfs side… like girl you are better than this. I’m usually all for age gaps like this, but Yumi and Wao are damn miserably laughable. They’re holding so hard to their love and can’t do anything, like they’ll die if they’re apart, Wao has no personality besides loving Yumi and Yumi is a weirdo.

It really pissed me tf off, the ending was very eh. Shima and Gen ending up together was always gonna happen but it feels like they just fixed it in one chapter no progress. All their relationships are messy, even tho Haruka was a bitch, she was lowkey the best character here. Shima also pmo the first time, maybe it’s just how shoujo heroines work always falling in love with the conventionally attractive guy at first then shifting feelings to the other loud guy. Gen needs more character development.
