Adding more that this, did y'all know that when an emperor or leader dies, their heir of next to the throne can "keep" or their concubines will be past down to the next one, that's up to the next emperor to decide but this is usually done to essentially "protect" these concubines bcs come on, their husband is dead, where tf are they supposed to go?? Plus, like I said, this strengthens the next leader's political power rather than killing them off
Thank youu! I knew chap 19 was gonna update today and some ppl would've read it ahead somewhere so i came to check but all these 'slept with another concubine' 'political pawn' comments scared me. I had full faith in shuraka until last week and was defending him but these comments actually made me think for a moment that he cheated.
I don't mind that he has a harem like as you said, they're there for his political backing but if he EVER slept with any of them (which i sure hope he hasn't otherwise his blood wouldn't be golden), i won't forgive him. But I'm sure it won't happen. It's BWAT after all. I'mma trust in the author than these comments. (⌒▽⌒)

Concubines, line in any other pieces of literature like "The apothecary diaries" are there not only for sex but also for political power of the king. How did y'all think Shuraka survived without backing in a palace filled with people trying to kill him?
I understand the frustration of Shuraka not saying anything but if he did, what difference would it make? Tei still doesn't love him, Tei himself believes Shuraka will need an heir or will meet a girl to replace him eventually, and how will the plot progress if they are all sunshine and rainbows, right???
How is Shuraka, a kid who grew up in a royal family filled with bitches who wanted to kill him the moment he was born be good at communication? More than anything, I think this is more realistic tbh. He's emotionally constipated but he's not abusive bcs of it, is he?
It's not so 1 dimensional, you can't say just "right" or "wrong", it's not one or the other. Just bcs he isn't a green flag of up to the standards that you all expect him to be, doesn't mean he's black or red either. People's whole life can't be defined by those bcs humans are not so linear like that, we change and we grow.
A friend mentioned "People expect Westernized morality in plots in asian royal settings, and turn a blind eye when modern day romances try to gloss over cheating, assault, and other problematic behaviors." And I agree.
Idc if you guys have much anger bcs that's how ur supposed to feel but I hope this doesn't turn into something that will ruin the author's wants to finish this work bcs they already lost 2 of their works and they are trying to get back up with this one. I'm afraid y'all are affecting sales too much as illegal readers complaining about this haha, see y'all same time next week <3
