I'm pretty sure all the concubines are from the previous padishah's harem which is why they're all older. Tei thinks it's shuraka's kink but I think it's just shuraka being merciful and not kicking out a bunch of vulnerable women who were bartered off to become harem members. But I'm sure as soon as someone starts getting uppity that mercy will dry up.

I honestly, not just wishful thinking lol, think that he doesn’t sleep with the concubines. I feel like they are there as part of an alliance pact. He’s most likely giving them all they want, including their freedom from their kingdoms. Otherwise his blood wouldn’t be turning gold in such a small amount of time and he would definitely show more experience. I hope they are actually his brothers and that the male concubine doesn’t get in their way. I’m gonna cry if there’s more angst and misunderstandings
