I love seeing a reader bring their intelligence to the story. Your take on this honestly was the best I’ve seen, and I could not have said it better myself. Yeonwoo’s innocence is such a heavy piece that you really have to be able to stomach a lot when reading it, but it’s truly so well written and the author did so good portraying the way trauma affects people differently and especially with junhyeok and for lack of better words “survivors guilt” leading to that codependency with yeonwoo. Anyways I truly enjoyed reading your comment.

it's kind of symbolic how haesol and haesoo both got their clean breaks differently; haesoo by leaving with a bang, retaliating before he broke free and haesol... quietly, in comparison. both parents terrorized both children in different ways. it's not like either twin took it lying down, but the past chapters show how trauma affects people in a multitude of ways: haesoo being plagued by the memories and turning to substances, haesol shutting down both memory and emotion.
the same can be said for every one of the cast and their friend group, though comparison can't be perfectly made since trauma, abuse and their effects will always vary.
i think it's especially interesting to me that yeonwoo's parents are such a sharp contrast to the twins', not to mention where the kids get their trauma from. yeonwoo's home life isn't perfect but honestly? they+ junhyeok are relatively model. the twins were fucked over from the start they're better than me tho idk what i'd do if i were in their place.
it's so hard to point fingers in yeonwoo's place, aside from the obvious villains. the twins, however, had no one on their side and even worse, they were separated early on. it feels easier to point fingers at *everyone,* when you look at things from their perspective. i truly believe they embody children failed by the adults in their life.
this last chapter with their mom showing up feels neither anticlimactic nor... conclusive. over time, it surely will and from a reader's perspective this feels like the perfect break to their ties but i personally feel helpless, just as i always do reading this this beautiful story shsnhdjdjd yeonwoo's innocence truly is about making do with the cards you've been dealt. it's not easy and at worst, not even gratifying but what can we do but to move on? i'm only grateful they've found their happiness and hope
