She already had her powers from the start but the pope took it as a sign that she was a saint. Just like in every one of her past lives, even though she already had her power, i feel like it's just a convenient excuse to be able to use her power freely without being regarded as abnormal or anything like that.
Why did the FL randomly become a saint ? Wasn't she using magic from the start ? Then how is she a saint ? Does the FL have all sorts of powers ?
Also who entrusts their 5 year old daughter for several days to a guy( the pope) they just met ?
