Yeah same. It makes me happy to talk about my dad but then I need to say it at some point and it's always so awkward. And if you go "oh it's okay it was a long time ago" then it looks like you don't care... But yes, talking about him and reminiscing is still very important so I'll choose the awkwardness sometimes.
Man I felt that. I don’t bring it up a ton with people I just meet but sometimes it slips out that my mom passed away too. It always feels awkward because people don’t always know how to react when hearing that. It makes me feel bad for bringing the mood down. But at the same time it’s nice to talk about her while being honest that she’s gone.
