I really wish we had more insights in ML's mind as the story progresses, like in the beginning I liked how his memories were shown and I'll be honest it made sense that he turned into a psychotic maniac, because you have this kid traumatised to hell and back, getting killed and randomly waking up as an 18 year old only to be now worshipped as a human weapon. He had pretty much lost his purpose after the orphanage burned down and carried enormous guilt because of that pretty much making him the prime candidate to be turned into a human weapon and even more so because he was literally dead during his formative teen years and therefore he lost out on important emotional and social development. Also being worshipped as a demigod or whatever by that temple most definitely did not grant him any opportunity to heal or catch up on his social and emotional development, since lets be honest being worshipped as some great being typically end up pretty isolating. Also like he spent like a majority of his time in pure survival mode which usually doesn't really allow for other development since you have more pressing issues at hand than develop social skills or something
The fact he ended up killing FL multiple times before realising there won't be any different results also seems pretty telling to me that ML pretty much never had the chance to psychologically mature beyond the time of his death at the hands of FL's dad.
All in all I really think that the premise and the beginning was pretty great (I also really enjoyed the fact that FL didn't immediately succeeded but died again lol) but the execution beyond that was unfortunately pretty meh
