From what im getting, Tei is a little insecure or atleast has a little self esteem issue but not of his own body but of his role. Its clear he was raised in a way that prioritized duty more than any other emotion, and for a man as serious as him, he must feel restless and in a way, worthless that he isnt carrying out his duties as he should.
Im a little confused about Shu and I wanna trust that hes merely entertaining his concubines as a form of respect but not taking them to bed, but I hope they'll communicate soon. Its clear he prioritizes Tei over everything else, but I hope he realizes that Tei is a stranger in Arnata, even if he had been there before, things changed and hes finally in a soldified role that he feels hes not carrying out properly.
I love Slowburns, especially ones with misunderstandings, the angst is always the best and the resolution of feelings are always so warm, I just hope its resolved in a healthy way
