I had to swallow my frustration just to read this without getting angry. The author already made the MC and ML awful, but ruining the empress’s character on top of that feels completely unnecessary. Honestly, this is the first time I’ve rooted for the antagonist, he’s the only one who seems rational, especially when he chose to walk away after realizing how cruel the emperor is.
Out of the three of them, he’s the only one who actually has the right to be angry. That’s why it’s so frustrating to see his character being twisted just to elevate the two leads, who don’t even seem to know what they want in life. There were so many chances for the MC to stand on his own, but because of his obsession with the emperor, everything just spiraled further. They both ended up losing themselves to that madness, to the point where the story itself started to feel meaningless.
I hate the emperor even more, honestly. I won’t even lay out the reasons anymore, they’re already painfully obvious.
