The possible second couple are both already adults, and the only reason people find it weird is because one is a teacher and the other is a student lol. Personally, I don’t find it weird, since the mermaid was unfamiliar with surface life and needs to be taught by going to school. Like there are also adults in real life who go to high school very late due to certain circumstances.
