no youre so real for this. i yapped about this topic in a bit more detail back in june. andim so glad to find someone else who understands! a lot of people here seem to overlook their trauma and how it shaped them. how they both experienced different things after leaving their birth parents, how that reflected on the both of them, how it explains their personality/actions, but still doesnt excuse them. i love morally wrong yet complex characters like these
one hundred percent. and i feel like, if the author is trying to tell a good story, it's up to the reader to notice and pick apart the plot and narrative. rereading the story with the added context and new information really helps put a lot of things into perspective.

yeah i’m loving the story so far. this is just my very simple observation, im not sure if this is what the author was even aiming for, but all three characters are very intriguing and fun to analyze.

jingi is definitely compensating for his trauma. some lasting psychological effects of csa are hyper sexuality and self destructive behavior. the fact he's modified his genitals could be a sign of both.
he's more affected than he lets on, whether he knows it or not. for example, him rebelling against his abuser by growing his hair out long, to make himself undesirable. his need to dominate and to hurt others through sex, it all leads back to his abuse.
hyeonjae was stunted, not just developmentally but emotionally. that's not to say he 'doesn't know' what he's doing, but his emotions feel juvenile, very one dimensional. his anger and jealousy are magnified ten times over childish reasons. it's all or nothing for him. that could be because he grew up as an outsider, both in his foster home and school. but this chapter also shows he was exhibiting signs of cruelty very early on. which might be psychopathy instead? who knows
