Not to get between you guys fighting, but I keep getting notifications for this and yeah this story is basically just reheated yaoi nachos. Yaoi has genuinely fine tuned this trope so hard you could play bingo with it, read like any third yaoi storyline and you'll get the same thing everytime. 90's shoujo did have a heavily misogynistic "rich man mistreats poor woman" trope and you can see it a lot in what was coming out at the time but this was a lot broader of a trope that was concentrated down by the yaoi genre. This story is just so specific and exact to the classic rich-poor yaoi plotline that it's clear that it's been derived from it.

I also agree that TWD derived good points from toxic yaoi and that SL fans have been in depravity for good content ever since hence its popularity. It’s not something to fret about though.

Yeah I agree with you on the fact that early shoujo clearly surpassed the mass production of the rich-poor yaoi (not saying that there's no incredible amazing yaois I'm just talking about the rich-poor debt slop) while there's still great stories being published, this once interesting plot has definitely been boiled down story by story to create this concentrate and now it's simply being repackaged into TWD. I also started by reading shoujo and then I got introduced into some amazing yaoi and I absolutely fell in love even though like with all genres there's the good/great and then there's the stale, mass produced content. While I'm not sure if this kind of plot is something we should be eyeing to take credit for I think it's fair to say that while 90s shoujo has acted as the bricks for these kinds of story's, these stories through being concentrated and chipped by the yaoi genre have been reshaped into something new and I think that credit can fairly be given to the yaoi genre ^°^
