What makes this a breath of fresh air though? It plays into so many mainstream BL troupes. High homophobia, over sexualization, excessive infantilization, physical/sexual assault, and hyper feminization of a guy that ngl looks like he’d be, if not a cis woman, then a trans one. (Then you also have the sister fetishizing over her own brother.)

i agree, they def need to do smth abt the mc and the ginger guy was irrefutably a bad person. the reason this, to me, is a "breath of fresh air" is because it's actually realistic for once. not sure about school life in other countries like japan, but, for once, it felt like i was reading something real and not just some sunshine and rainbows world, which most yaoi aren't that either but the point is they really dilute all the horrible shit that happens in life. idk i just dont want you to think i have no issue with the sexual assault and whatnot. the appeal this has for me is how realistic it feels
yes but i find that most of those things are inescapable in a vast majority of bl nowadays. im not excusing all of that, but this is a "breath of fresh air" to me because most all of that is, unfortunately, a realistic depiction of a lot of highschools (all-boys in particular). most other bls can't compare when it comes to crafting a story that actually seems plausible (maybe not mc's appearance, but everything else). as hectic as this one is, i (and certainly many others) can see it happening - which is why it appeals to me and why it is "new or different" because not many other bls can make the claim that readers actually see the story as something that could genuinely come into fruition, what with things like omegaverse and other common tropes. this may be fiction but i like when it feels real too. im not a weird bitch and ngl i think a lot of people on these sites like to jump to the conclusion that you are a weird bitch when you say something that could incite controversy. it's weird to make such blatant assumptions as to my reasoning for liking a bl. you do not know my thoughts, so don't give me no '' . k sorry but i had to. the passive aggressiveness in your comment highkey pissed me off. anyways, we're all good now ml
