I’m convinced some people didn’t read at all because there’s an evident cycle and it’s not easy to break it.
Haewon struggles with abandonment issues, which constantly push him into a “quick repair” mindset. When something feels off, he tries to immediately fix it so the relationship can return to safety.
Yunoh was physically abused into thinking that being honest about his needs/feelings is selfish, dangerous, and likely to make things worse. So what does he do? He downplays hurt instead of expressing it directly. He minimizes it, suppresses it, or goes along with things to avoid conflict and keep the relationship stable.
This causes a really painful cycle that looks like:
Yunoh hides his feelings > Haewon interprets this as abandonment and reacts strongly out of fear > Yunoh feels even more certain that honesty will destabilize their relationship > Haewon interprets this as abandonment and reacts strongly…
Neither of their issues can be fixed as easily as “just talking about it” because it’s not just about disagreement, it’s about their survival responses colliding.
I love this manhwa for THAT conflict and seeing comments boil everything down to "communication is key" decreases my lifespan by 5 years lmao. Shotfire
I feel the same. I mean, it’s true that communication is key, but when communication itself feels dangerous, of course it’s not going to be easy.
