moon prince has been through all types of violence, manipulation, and is essentially a tool with no room for feelings so he genuinely cannot believe someone can love and cherish him as if he’s precious. he can’t see himself “taking away” someone as bright as the king. the sun kings own mother believes he’s an untouchable monster, and assumes being pushed away is mc being disgusted or scared of him
they both need to just TALK to each other honestly without being so considerate or worried. i believe it’s up to the king mostly to resolve this, because his own spy was probably witnessing everything that mc goes through. their misunderstandings boils down to their deep trauma and self-worth
