I followed the story mainly via people’s analysis as I was letting marinate, until
It got ugly and people started being vile. After Ian left parted ways with Jo at the gas station I decided to stay off Twitter until the story officially ends and a while has passed. I can imagine how badly people are crashing out. I’ve always liked TJ over Jo, however I never made it a deal breaker on my final opinion once the story ended. I feel for the author as I can only imagine the horrible comments she’s getting. Despite being very rey clear from the beginning that nothing has changed from when the story was originally written.
!!! a week before this i rmbr somebody saying even if jo isn't endgame, jo fans will js feel bad for him & get over it after a while, unlike tj fans who would. idk. kill themselves or wtv. anyway im not talking abt the comment section here bc im only seeing people shit on characters which is perfectly fine, do that ofc, but the recent chaps have rly brought out the worst in people on twitter. first they were praying doyak ends up with an actual abusive partner, then they said they regret praying for her health and her fathers health, then they said they hope her dog dies, then they've been telling her in masses to kill herself, then they said doyak is abusive irl. this is psychotic. it's mental illness. & these tweets are by accounts w big followings too. to an extent i get feeling heartbroken, disappointed etc etc. ive been reading this for years, and i would've felt distraught too. but people need to realise these are lines on a paper. PIXELS. joseph landi will be fine bc he doesn't exist. ian will not be miserable for the rest of his life bc he's not real. but the author is real. i feel like a broken record bc ive been repeating this for the past few weeks, which proves that the resentment has been bubbling up for weeks, but there's a huge line between criticism and harassment. anyway shout out to people who feel disappointed but can still decipher the line between fiction and reality. bare minimum but its crazy how rare it is.
