honestly don’t like Ash at all. They never even properly talked about that statement where he said “they were nothing.” That alone should have been discussed clearly, but it was just ignored like it didn’t matter.
And even after learning about the engagement, it didn’t feel like he was choosing him because he truly wanted to. It felt more like he was doing him a favour rather than actually wanting to be with him. His whole personality is totally like a spoiled privileged brat who doesn't care less about others feeling at all

Woah, it's surprising how confidently wrong you are. It's like we're reading two different stories wtf lmao.

My brother/sister in Christ, read the story yourself. I'm not really going to reread the story and find information for you when you can easily do that yourself, you're not a baby, and I already know that even if I spoon feed you, you'd still argue cuz it's seems like you already made up your mind about nitpicking Ash's character. "spoiled brat" lololol.
But fine, I have some time today, I'll take the bait and educate lmao.
Do you not know the meaning of unreliable narrator or character perspective(POV) or implication??
We read the story from Lyle's perspective, and we get to see his thoughts. We only briefly get to see lyle from another characters perspective, and its obvious that Lyle doesn't communicate his feels properly.
When Ash said they were nothing at that time, He was right. They dont need to speak on the truth, Lyle knew it as well. Lyle set the rules for their relationship, Ash respected his boundaries, Lyle's feeling started to change, Lyle didn't communicate about that, Ash still thought their relationship meant nothing to Lyle but a contract. And when he does learn about it and accepts his feelings for him, he becomes the sweetest partner to him. Tho its not like hes wasnt sweet to him before he had feelings for him. He respected him alot so idek where u got that he doesnt care about others feelings. And he so clearly inlove with Lyle so where did u get that he was forced to do this and hes only getting with him as a favour. Did u read this with ur ass??
It's really not that hard to understand his character, unless you dont have any reading comprehension AT ALL...
thank you for listening to my TedTalk.

“My brother/sister in Christ” and then you proceed to drop a whole essay just to say absolutely nothing new
You really typed all that just to repeat the story in your own words and call it “analysis.”
And the funniest part? You’re talking about “reading comprehension” while ignoring the fact that interpretation ≠ agreement. Just because you understood it one way doesn’t mean it’s the only valid take. That’s like… basic.
You keep hiding behind “unreliable narrator” like it’s some big brain concept, but you’re using it as an excuse to ignore anything that doesn’t fit your version. That’s not analysis, that’s cherry-picking with confidence.
Also, the whole “Lyle didn’t communicate” point yeah, no shit. That’s literally the conflict. Congratulations on discovering the plot what’s next, you gonna tell me water is wet?
And don’t act like you “educated” anyone. You just stretched a simple point into a TED Talk and sprinkled in insults to make it sound smarter.
“Did you read this with your ass??”
Nah, but it definitely sounds like you wrote that with yours.
Next time try less attitude and more actual thinking
