I was thinking about the same thing!! It really broke my heart to see him like that. Was he an annoying evil character? Yes. But I feel like his character could've been redeemed. :(((( I don't know if I can sleep well tonight cause of this ╥﹏╥
If I remember right in the book, he got a happy ending. He divorced her and ended up marrying another woman. I'm not sure why they gave him an ending like this in the manhwa.
His ending made me kind of sad bc in the novel author stays in rhyse body and he sees how she actually is and divorces her since she can’t come to terms that she’s a normal person and not someone special anymore. It made me sad like yeah it explains so much that he’s the most affected by the plot so why make him a huge villain in this version when he’s also a victim of the plot.

they changed it so much… I feel pretty bad for Cliff. he wasn’t definitely watered down into a basic narcissist sub-villain
Did the og rhyse never love cliff ? Because in her pov i don't think we see much about her feelings towards cliff , so what is her true opinion about him . Also although I love the doomed Yuri plotline i really did like rhyse and cliff together so in a way I'm also kinda sad that cliff got such a horrible ending. It feels unfair , he was influenced by the story and plotline to do certain things and tbh he was not the person most at fault, it was the og author . He was literally made to unconditionally love rhyse so ofc he did the things that he did , i am extremely dissatisfied and disappointed by the ending that he got , I will just pretend that he left the troops at the border and left to find rhyse , eventually found her and lived happily ever after remotely or even returned and had a nice redemption arc
