Im normally not invested in the 2nd couples in stories like this but these two are interesting in a sense that the level of miscommunication between them is both is both valid and completely unnecessary. Ive had friends for over 12years and honestly if I found out one of told me today they liked me since high-school id feel a mix of emotions just like blondie but id consider them because we obviously had a bond and cemetery for years.
If I was in sliver hairs position id be just as suspicious of my friend's intentions because it would feel like its coming out of nowhere that someone i liked but never considered me suddenly changed their tune.
That said I find their relationship a bit insane and very dishonest. Friendship is not a lesser type of relationship, its just a different one. Its pretty obvious to me that blondie has really been in love with his secretary from day one but never had a reason to consider him romantically or sexually. The secretary made it clear he wanted to keep their relationship at a surface level friendship thru his actions and never wanted to cross that line. Not to mention blondie is so simple minded and straight forward there's no way he would have noticed such well hidden emotions and intentions from someone that claimed to be just a friend.
Which leads me to the secretary. I understand unrequited feelings and all but dude knew his 'best friend' was into men (and probably women) and cared about him in a way he cared about no one else. I can only give him so much sympathy considering if anyone had a chance to seriously be with blondie it was always going to be him. But instead of taking a risk for better or worse he hid his feelings and big chunks of his personality from blondie for 12yrs. Like thats insane and cowardly to me. He was telling the truth in this chapter about how hes the more selfish of the two. I cant understand people pleasing to such a level that the closest person to you doesn't even know you but youre mad at him because he's responding to a situation you made bigger with your own dishonesty????? Like i would get it if his love interest was just self centered and never paid attention to him but finding out he played the game so his love interest would never know even the most basic things like his favorite food. Thats crazy work.
All that said I don't hate these two and would love to see them work thru the back long of bullshit the dishonesty and miscommunications has caused. I just cant find it in me to feel too bad for sliver hair but I do want him to be comfortable, honest, and trusting.
(Also can we kill this troupe where the best proof that someone is into you is if they can be sexually aroused by you. Im not sure of the sexualities of these two but its obvious neither is fully straight. There has to be better ways to prove your love and affection for someone)
