Hmm, for me their personalities still the same. Xixi always been quiet, more actions and his focus always on Jianyi. While Jianyi, loud, always love him, since the start, it's just getting stronger and a bit vocal. Means, their rs is progressing! The way xixi reminds him he'll work hard to earn to take care f him, he go wherever Jianyi goes, the pic on his desk. For me, they're growing and finally has a bit of change of their rs
In the early chapters it was mentioned that mo and xixi were similar in how they’re both more awkward and don’t have as much to say compared to hetian and jianyi

Nah I noticed that too, moreover the author only gives us glimpse and crumbs so we can't even fully analyse the first duos' dynamic
Why does it feel like zhan xixi and jianyi are becoming second versions of mo and hetian and their relationship dynamic? They used to all have their own distinct personalities but now zhan xixi feels like the hollow quieter version of mo and jianyi is the more toned down (as in obsessive) happy go lucky version of hetian. It’s a given zhan xixi’s character development has been neglected but he never used to be this bad. This whole career arc has been so surface level and forgettable which makes me so sad cause I love all 4 of the characters and miss the earlier dynamic.
