It gets a little bit better in the next chapters but Nathan always keep a barrier between them and Alex is always always having sad thoughts and a lot of remorse. Tbh, its very painful to read because we understand both sides but Alex especially feels so unbearable I cried a lot during the novel. Its only towards the end that things get better and then we have the side stories

And honestly the events span from almost the rest of the history until the end. Idk about the other sites but for cherry mist the things I talked about start at chapter 7.7.
