I actually get why they did that trope this time. They went through some heavy mental shit afterall and it’s bearable since the characters actually chose it - usually it’s completely unexpected and forced on the characters for the sake of the plot. This time it’s to show that these guys would get together even without the influence of their past lives, which is something that makes me happy to know
