Honestly he is a green flag in my opinion
Everyone in the comments say he’s kind of shady and a yellow flag because sometimes he is cold to karlyle but in my opinion it’s juste that the story is told in karlyle’s pov and his pov is kinda non reliable + he is a seriously insecure man who always doubts eveyone even himself…
The story is really cute and one of my favorites, you should give it a try !

Nope he is not green flag

He is a green, we just only have karlyle’s pov, and his pov is so unreliable. Don’t forget that he also doesn’t speak much and Ash is always trying to read between the lines, and as he sais he’s not a mind reader.
Also in the manhwa a loot of details are glossed over compared to the novel. Especially when they have sex.

I just wanted to add that showing a little dominance in bed is not sa IF the partner doesn’t hate it of course. That was what the manhwa glossed over. Because in the novel we are constally reading karlyle’s thoughts and he does not hate it.
Yes he feels uncomfortable at times because he is an alpha and being the bottom and feeling pleasure from his ass is like a humiliation for him because that’s whan an omega does. And being knoted but another alpha is againt all his instincts BUT he also feels a great deal of exaltation and pleasure by this at the same time because it’s with Ash. And i find that this here was not properly conveyed in the manhwa as the novel does.

i'll speak for myself here when i say karlyle being "unreliable" imo is only an issue if you expect pov characters to be perfect at explaining everything (which isn't realistic) or u get like really sick of slow burn (me tbh before reading dtr). i dont think its right to say he is an unreliable narrator at least in the manhwa just cuz his narration being incorrect in anyway is not something that is being done to confuse the reader (which unreliable narrators tend to be regardless of if said chara does it on purpose or not), he just thinks way too hard </3

i think the manhwa wanted to do more showing and not telling (probably so they could show freaky gay sex cough- and also because karlyle himself internalizes his feelings very strongly, ferry convenient for a comic/webtoon format
what happens in the novel vs the manhwa is only relevant unless someone plans on reading both, theres prob ppl here who havent done that yet (including me

Actually, being an unreliable character is defenetly not an issue in my opinion, because as you said no character is perfect and if I said that his pov is not reliable it was only to explain that we don’t know the whole story and evidently Ash’s pov on why he was behaving the way he did (because everyone said he was not a green)
But other than that, I do think the author wanted to do more showing and less telling and that karlyle internalizes a lot of his emotions, in fact a lot of their fights are a result of karlyle’s insecurities (mis communication ╥﹏╥ )… lol

hmmm.. now that is what i didn't get, i never got the opinion ash was ever sus in anyway, but now that you point this out yeah i think thats more a pacing thing since its slow, id guess thats why he can seem pushy lololol. the only thing ive seen that knocked him off green status i can blame on the writer not him, he is perfect i fear

lyle and ash arent very far off personality wise and they seem so different just based on life experience... it probably adds to how he can seem pushy, hes worth tolerating. It's peak writing your honor.
