hi! ill copy paste my explanation of this story but do note that this was before we found out what actually happened during the golden pavilion (now we found out what actually happened with the downfall of GP)

To explain it simply, Yuta and Seunghyun had history together back in the GP days (Golden Pavilion), Yuta and Seunghyun both were not gay at that time, SH had to do it because it was the “Yakuza” way, and Y was there unwillingly (not yet mentioned how or why it happened). +notable fact that Y is from a noble family b4 becoming courtesan.

Y had always love learning, and SH then acknowledge how Y is smart, so SH bought him books because SH was planning to maybe make Y work under him in the future.

In the present, we see Y was being highly defensive around SH, this is because something had happened in the past (GP arc) and wanted to make SH suffer as much as possible.

What actually happened between them?

It is not yet revealed, but it mention many times that Sh ‘left’ him. In Y’s eyes SH probably betrayed him when he needed SH. But this is merely my speculation. In Chap7, it showed a flashback panel with SH saying, “Because I didnt go there and find you?” with blood and axe covering floor (same scene extended showed in Chap27)

This could hint something traumatic had happened to Y in GP arc, and Y was expecting SH to come save him, because Y thought he mattered that much to SH. (If youre a pearl boy reader, this is like a parallel if Doosik didnt save Jooha)

“I hate how you pretend to be considerate when it’s all a lie” - Y (from chapter 5 i think?) Y thinks all the good deeds SH did in the past was not genuine (when it probably was at that time).

Why is Yuta doing this? What is his intentions?

Because Y ‘hates’ SH. That’s it. Whatever happened in the past fucked Y real good that he became so obsessive n motivated to ruin SH, he devoted 11 years to climb from being a servant boy to where he is now.

This is where my speculation comes in, present Yuta is in denial that he loves SH, even when Y thinks SH betrayed him that day. This can be trace in Chap8, “I didnt run away bc I was afraid id embrace you with open arms. After longing for you over the last 10 years.” - Y.

Explaining Chap 17-18

The scene where Y calls SH is a flashback during GP arc. I speculate this happened before the “incident”. Y called SH, thinking he wouldn’t pick up, because why would he? Why would SH care about a whore like him? He’s just like the other old guys in the GP. But SH did pick up and even went out of his way to see him the next day.

Y firmly believes SH is a psycho manipulative bad guy. He thinks every kind act from SH is a way of manipulating him. So thats why he spiraled in Chap18 when SH said he could leave whenever he wants, because thats not how the script was supposed to go. SH was supposed to keep Y hostage, assert his dominance or smth.

Explaining Chap22

Here SH is unaware that he does care about Y, to the point that he thinks “what if idc about the casino?”

Y didn’t want to hear an apology for him. Why? **Because he knows he might fold and forgive him. This means all the rage n shit he went thru for 10 years to get his revenge will be in vain. So Y stop him from saying anything else, and puts up an act**

Why was Y crying when SH asked if Y liked him?

Because he did. And Y hates that he does like him 10 years ago. He doesn’t want to admit to it bc he feels pathetic.

Why did SH told Y to cut his dih?

Because SH was testing Y if he is that desperate in his revenge plan to put up with SH that Y can throw his pride away.

What now?

SH thinks the only way to uno reverse Y is to lie and show affection towards Y. But as mentioned in previous chapter by Y, he can’t lie its not in his nature, at least not about affection, so the chap29, he met up w a therapist bc hes confusing this affection with something else, and hes sure its Y’s doing.
