This is the most logical spoilers, i think he might have sealed the demon lord in his body thats why his eyes were black and ML needed to kill him before his,doul was consumed i bet killing the MC turned the ML bat dhit insane.

This chapter the ML convinced the MC to help him defeat the demon lord, and bring a world of peace as he talked about. The thought that the MC for that purpose ,and later for his love for the ML, sacrificed himself, just for the ML to fall into madness in the end. Instead of manifesting the world that he first envisioned with the MC, he chose to destroy it because now a world without the MC is meaningless.
