I think the ML lied about the Count to the MC and after the final battle, the MC finds out and starts killing nobles and that leads to the scene from the first chapter.
That can't be the reason otherwise, MC wouldn't be so adamant in helping the ML. MC also seems apologetic towards the ML, with a little bit of guilt too. With how much he seems to have loved his siblings, he wouldn't be behaving that way if the ML was lying
